A neuroradiology specialist, Dr. Timothy Bernauer devotes half of his practice time to diagnostic and interventional neuroradiology procedures. As one of the select few senior members of the American Society of Neuroradiology, he is well positioned to work with physicians who treat related conditions.
His special interests in neuroradiology include:
- CT and MRI of the brain and spine
- Neuroangiography and Magnetic Resonance Angiography
- Head and neck (ENT) radiology
- Myelography and lumbar punctures
- Facet and S-I joint injections for pain relief
Although traditional neuroradiology focuses on diagnostic radiology of diseases of the central nervous system, Dr. Bernauer has expanded his area of focus to include ear, nose and throat (ENT) radiology. In this role, he works with ENT physicians to provide diagnostic imaging for cancer and benign lesions of the face, neck, and ears.
Dr. Bernauer received his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School. He completed his residency and neuroradiology fellowship at Indiana University Medical Center.
Prior to joining Radiology Associates of Appleton in 2003, Dr. Bernauer was an associate professor at Southern Illinois University, and worked in Decatur, Ill. He is board certified in diagnostic radiology and also holds a certificate of added qualifications in neuroradiology. He has been a senior member of the American Society of Neuroradiology for seven years, and is a member of the Radiological Society of North America, American Society of Spine Radiology, American Medical Association and American College of Radiology. Dr. Bernauer has been an active participant with the Wisconsin Medical Society, serving as a county delegate. He has also been active in the Wisconsin Radiological Society, on the board of directors, and more recently serving as president of the Wisconsin Radiological Society. Dr Bernauer a board member and the current President of Radiology Associates of Appleton.
